Out to make a difference in a troubled land are foreign aid workers. Ground zero for A Perfect Day turns out to be Croatia. Full of meddlesome politics folks who believe in Idealism may find this PNP release, now playing at the International Village Cinemas, fascinating.

Already the toast of many film festivals A Perfect Day explores the role noble foreign aid workers play in hostile territory, behind enemy lines. Led by an impressive, casual performance by Latin ace actor Benicio Del Toro (License To Kill) our team of four talents men and women descend into the depths of depravity in 1990s Serbia. Alongside Tim Robbins (The Shawshank Redemption) and fellow 007 veteran Olga Kurylenko ( Quantum of Solace) looking decidedly unglamorous here to go with the dusty war-torn environment A Perfect Day is a decidedly different drama exploring the problems foreign peace-keepers/makers have in Troubled regions of the world.

Hats off to director Fernando Leon de Aranoa  for writing this drama and thereby taking us into a little known world that outsiders seldom get to see first hand.
