Multi-Cultural Ministries to host tour of six worship centers, ethnic luncheon

ABBOTSFORD – Dr. David McLauren and Multi-Cultural Ministries are pleased to announce an upcoming temple tour that will introduce guests to five very different places of worship and offer an ethnic luncheon.

The Lower Mainland is known as one of the most diverse regions in North America and is home to people of 100+ spoken languages. The communities are being joined by thousands of people from nearly every nation, culture, and ethnic group of the world. With these changes, the Lower Mainland is becoming a multicultural mosaic that presents new opportunities and challenges. Dr. McLauren said, “Let’s get comfortable with it and celebrate diversity.”

Dr. McLauren hopes to help encourage people to embrace diversity by bridging the communication gap and providing insight to help reach and engage multicultural neighbors. In the upcoming cross-temple tour, guests will accompany Dr. McLauren on a guided tour of a Sikh temple, Hindu temple, Muslim mosque, Buddhist temple, a Jewish Synagogue.

These cross-temple tours have been hosted by Dr. McLauren in the past. Recent guests have left positive feedback, with one attendee commenting, “David, this temple tour opened my eyes, and I am now befriending multi-cultural neighbors.”

Another recent guest said, “I greatly benefited from the excellent and well-organized tour this weekend. Many years of reading about the different religions made them seem like dry, flat religions, but now they have taken on life, character, sights, and sounds! Thank you very much!”

Dr. McLauren invites people to explore cross cultural temples with him on Saturday April 2, 2016, from 9am until 2pm in Surrey, BC. Registration is $39 per person and includes a visit to six places of worship and an ethnic luncheon.
