Dear Editor:

Very historical day in Canadian Parliament. Government apologizing for the 1914 incident, when Canadian Govt. didn’t allow Komagatamaru ship full of Indians mostly Sikhs trying to come to Canada. That ship stayed at Vancouver harbour for two months but passengers were not allowed to get off the ship. And finally after two months the Canadian Government forced the ship to return to India. And when it reached Calcutta, the British Govt. of those days fired at passengers killing 20 and arresting many other. But today in Parliament, PM Trudeau apologized for the discriminatory decision of 1914 Canadian Govt. and for the sufferings of passengers on board the ship. It is great decision taken by the Trudeau Govt. Very many thanks to PM Trudeau for apologizing for the big mistake made 102 years ago.

It is great day for Sikh community in Canada. Many people have been working hard for years to make Canadian Govt. apologize for the big mistake in Parliament. But though previous Govts. had accepted that it was a bad discriminatory decision of the 1914 Govt. And PM Harper even apologized in public meeting in Vancouver, but they refused to apologize in the Parliament. But Mr. Trudeau before elections had promised that if his Liberal party formed the Govt. then it apologize for 1914 tragedy in the Parliament. And today PM Trudeau and his Liberal Government had fulfilled their promise and apologized for 1914 discriminatory decision of 1914 Govt.

Once again many thanks to PM Trudeau and Liberal party for fulfilling his promise and apologizing for Komagatamaru tragedy of 1914. And congratulations to all the people involved with and working hard for years to convince the Government to apologize for big discriminatory mistake made by 1914 Govt.
