Candle light vigil was held on May 23rd, the 102nd Anniversary of Komagata Maru’s arrival in Vancouver. President of the Komagata Maru Heritage Foundation Harbhajan S. Gill Thanked the Prime Minister for living up to his Promise that was given to the South Asian Community. Speakers shared the struggles and determinations of our pioneers that has made the South Asian community an integral part of Canadian Society. Descendants of Komagata Maru Society Raj Toor and Jasminder S. Ghuman shared their grandfather’s stories. Ghuman has written a book on Komagata Maru ( Symbol of Protest against Racial Discrimination.
