Indo-Canadian Poet Ashok Bhargava To Receive Pandora Collective Citizenship Award

VANCOUVER – This year’s winner of the Pandora’s Collective Citizenship Award, which recognizes an individual who Pandora’s Collective feels has excelled in his or her support of writers within our community, has been awarded to well known and respected Indo-Canadian poet-writer Ashok Bhargava.

Bhargava is poet, creative writer, public speaker, community activist, management consultant, and energetic volunteer.

The award is part of the Pandora’s Collective Literary Awards, which are presented to those who by their example and hard work continue to maintain and foster the Vancouver literary community.

2016 recipients of the Pandora’s Collective Literary Awards are:

The Pandora’s Collective Distinctive Body of Work Award is awarded annually in recognition of an author’s literary achievements. This award is in recognition of their distinguished contribution to the literary community through their work and their example.

This year’s recipient is poet, bill bissett.

The Pandora’s Collective Organizer/Promoter Award is given to an individual who has put herself/ himself forward to help organize literary events, ongoing or special events; someone who has over the last year helped give space to many writers whether they are new or established.

This year’s recipient is Vancouver Writers Fest artistic director, Hal Wake.

The Pandora’s Collective BC Writer Mentor Award goes to an individual who has taken the time to help foster other writers, giving them feedback and support over and above what may be expected.

This year’s recipient is poet, memoirist, and teacher, Kate Braid.

The Pandora’s Collective Publisher’s Award goes to those publishers who keep getting the word out – your words. Where would we be without the publishers? This year’s recipient is David Zieroth’s Alfred Gustav Press.

The evening will also feature music by Franki Lemon. Awards given to each recipient are created by artist Judith Atkinson.
