SURREY – It is perhaps one of greatest initiatives Canadian Sikhs have ever undertaken and it is bearing sweet fruit in the form of saving thousands of lives, more than 113,000 to be exact. This figure has been verified by the Sikh Nation group from Canadian Blood Services who receive the blood donated by Sikhs.

The group maybe called Sikh Nations but incorporates all those believe in human rights and justice and seek to give voice to the memory of those innocents who lost their lives to state sponsored violence or those who have been killed in Genocide, like 30,000 Sikhs in 1984 under the Congress government rule and state sponsored massacre of Sikhs. The annual blood drive during this timeout the year is held in the memory of the 1984 Sikh Genocide! Please observe a Minute of Silence on November 1 at 6pm who lost their lives in 1984!

This blood donation campaign is a part of an International effort to raise awareness about the 1984 Genocide and at the same time, unite humanity. This campaign represents peace and invites people around the world to join this unique humanitarian campaign.

The Sikh Nation Blood Donation campaign started 1999 as a means of remembering the victims of the genocide of Sikhs in Delhi in November of 1984.  The campaign which started in Vancouver, has now grown across the country, into the US and Australia.

In November 1984, thousands of Sikhs were killed as violent mobs targeted Sikhs living in Delhi and other parts of India.  In December 2014, Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh called the 1984 incident a genocide while delivering financial compensation to the families of the victims.
