MUKTSAR – A 19-year-old youth died when a .12-bore rifle went off accidentally while he was cleaning it at his residence in Duhewala village here.
Sources said Avtar Singh, father of the deceased, had taken the rifle to a wedding ceremony and when he returned to his residence, victim Pardeep started cleaning it.
Baljit Singh, SHO of the Kotbhai police station, said, “We have started inquest proceedings under Section 174 of the CrPC and handed over the body to the bereaved family.”
