Mushaira

Saturday, December 17, 2 – 4 pm

The public is invited to participate in Mushaira, an open mic session where poets gather to perform their works.  This is a cherished tradition in Pakistan and North India that allow both the invited poets and members of the audience to perform. It takes place at the George Mackie Library in North Delta – 84th and 112 street.

Time and Date: Saturday,  December 17, 1.30 pm – 4 pm

Venue: George Mackie Library, 112 st & 84 Avenue, Delta.

Free Interactive Workshops For Syrian Youth At PICS

PICS is offering Syrian newcomer youth free informative get-togethers and workshops to provide them with an in-depth insight into the Canadian culture. The program called  SyrianKidsGO is funded by Coast Capital Savings and will be offered at PICS Head Office. The program will launch on Wednesday December 28 @ 11:00 AM and Thursday December 29 and will be offered for eight weeks each  Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday afternoon. The youth will learn about social norms, expectations, potential hazards and dangers of stereotyping. Guest speakers from the RCMP, social workers, youth counselors and Canadian youth will provide more insight into the Canadian culture. An open forum with diverse dialogue will also be held. Register now, seats are limited!

PICS Offers Free WIMI 45 + Job Search Workshops for Mature Individuals

Are you 45 years or older, unemployed and live in Fraser Valley, Lower Mainland or South West of BC? PICS is offering an exciting free program called Workplace Integration for Mature Individuals (WIMI 45+).

This four week workshop/training will Increase your employment skills, get you valuable job search experience, will provide short term training and will also pair you with a mentor.

WIMI 45 + is offered in PICS Surrey and Vancouver location.
