Two Cops Sacked Over Their Involvement In Currency Racket

SANGRUR – The district police dismissed two head constables posted at Khanauri police station, Jagmail Singh and Mohinder Singh, for their alleged involvement in a currency racket.

SSP Inderbir Singh said he had written to the Commandant, sixth IRB Battalion, to initiate action against ASI Balvir Singh, now posted in the Excise Department here.

Inderbir added that he had also asked the Kaithal SSP to initiate action against head constable Rajvir Singh, working in the Haryana Vigilance Department.

The police had recovered new currency notes worth over Rs 18 lakh from eight persons, including three policemen from Punjab and one from Haryana. The quartet was allegedly part of a racket involved in the exchange of scrapped notes with new ones.
