Youth Leadership Program In Tri-cities

S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Youth Leadership Millennium (YLM) program, now in its 19th year of operation, has started accepting applications from prospective youth participants from ages 14 to 24. This 7-month program in Vancouver will focus on developing leadership roles among young people from various cultural backgrounds, both in life and in the community, providing them with a wide palette of unique experiences and opportunities such as travel expeditions and creative community initiatives. For the first time, S.U.C.C.E.S.S. will provide a shorter version (3 months) of this annual youth leadership program in the Tri-cities area. A mandatory information session, recommended for both parents and youth, is scheduled as follows:

Truth & Reconciliation

Truth & Reconciliation event is scheduled for Saturday June 10, 2017 from 2-4pm at the Langley bypass campus for Kwantlen Polytechnic University.  This event is free and open to the public.  Donations for the local food bank will be accepted.  Among the guest speakers is Dr John Burrows who is Aboriginal, LDS, and one of the foremost authorities on the Truth & Reconciliation Commission.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day-Saints is sponsoring this event in an effort at outreach and recognition of our Aboriginal and Indigenous brothers and sisters during the month of June which is Aboriginal month.

ESL Book Clubs at Surrey Libraries

“The ESL Book Clubs help us improve our English, learn about Canada, and make new friends from all over the world,” say participants of Surrey Libraries’ ESL book clubs. Book clubs are free, fun, and friendly. If you would like to practice your English and make new friends, join Surrey Libraries’ ESL Book Clubs. Come practice reading, speaking, and listening in English. Readers are welcome at any level from beginners to advanced.  Library books will be provided (Levels 1-4).
