It is with the deepest sadness that we announce the passing of our mom.

Jageero Kalwinder Kaur Sahota (aka Hayre) was born on April 7, 1935. She passed away on November 7, 2017 following a stroke on November 5th; she passed away peacefully with family at her side.

She is survived by her 2 daughters Balraj Virk (Inderjit) & Manju Sahota; son Jagwinder Sahota; grandchildren Rajina, Jasmine, Justin, Kiana, Sevak, Raunik, Riya and many more loving extended family members including her brother Gurmeet S. Hayre and sister Surjeet K. Nijjar (she was predeceased by her parents Kishan Kaur and Balbir Singh Hayre & brothers Mohan, Avtar & Sardul).

Born in the village of Littran, Punjab, India, mom was married to Malkit Singh Sahota of Barian Kalan in 1956 and moved to Vancouver, BC in 1972, where she raised her family.  Mom was extremely selfless and  dedicated her life to her children, family and loved ones; her strength and determination were admirable. Mom was always feeding everyone with her amazing cooking for which she will forever be remembered (and of course, her beautiful megawatt smile). When mom wasn’t cooking, she enjoyed gardening, walking, knitting, colouring, watching tv, face-timing, singing, dancing, attending the Gurdwara and her Friday afternoon senior club sessions at Sunset Community Centre.

“You are forever in our hearts our warrior mom. May you rest in peace.”

Funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, November 18 at 2:00 PM at Riverside Crematorium at 7410 Hopcott Road, Delta, BC, followed by a Sikh prayer ceremony at 4:00 pm at Gurdwara Nanak Niwas (India Cultural Centre of Canada) located at 8600 No 5 Rd, Richmond.
