MOHALI – The NIA court again sent UK-resident Jagtar Singh Johal, alias Jaggi, falsely accused in the murder case of Hindu outfit leader Durga Dass Gupta at Khanna, to another three-day police remand.

With still no evidence against the tortured UK-based man, it’s another case where the Punjab police has once again violated all tenets of democracy including severe abuse of human rights. The police involved should be Blacklisted by all Western countries in case their seek to visit.

The NIA produced Johal in a local court on Tuesday. Sources said the NIA counsel had sought Johal’s remand for 14 days.

But raising objections on the request of the NIA counsel, the defence counsel pleaded that the agency or police had only made allegations against his client and they had no evidence of his (Johal) involvement in the crime.

The defence counsel said his client had been in the police custody for the past 45 days. Earlier, Johal was in the custody of the Khanna Police.
