Ravidass Temple Celebrates Guru Gobind Singh Birth Anniversary

BURNABY –  Bill Basra, president of Shri Guru Ravidass Sabha (Vancouver), congratulated the congregation on the birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh ji and he launched planning for the upcoming 631st birth anniversary celebrations if Shri Guru Ravidass Ji this weekend at the Guru Ravidass Community Center in Burnaby.

Both Guru Raviass Ji and Guru Gobind Singh ji envisioned a casteless society.  Therefore we owe significantly to these and other Great Souls who gave up their lives and made several insurmountable sacrifices along the way.

Planning for the Guru Ravidass Jayanti include celebrations on January 31st weekend and then hosting Nagar Kirtan procession and Anand Path ceremony on March 30 to April 1 of 2018. All organizations with a mandate to create casteless society are invited and encouraged to participate in these upcoming celebrations and other events.

While reflecting on these upcoming celebrations, Basra also denounced the recent actions which derailed the 200th anniversary of the Bheema Koragaon victory related celebrations. Whatever may have caused distractions and disruptions, these are deplorable and must be discouraged from reoccurring in the future.

Other announcements Basra made inlcude the Sabha’s ongoing commitment to Punjabi classes and he said the Sabha has also announced its support to holding tuition sessions for grade 10 students.
