Young Surrey boxer Eric Basran had a very successful Commonwealth Games debut, winning a Bronze medal in the 56-kg weight class in Australia.  This is Eric’s For first year with being on Team Canada and being the youngest on the team, this is a great accomplishment.  He was also presented by Boxing Canada in March for “Boxer of the Year for 2017” just before he left for Australia in March.  Basranh won his two first fights unanimously and on his third fight in the semi-finals he lost to a close split decision to Northern Ireland.  This was Canada’s best showing in the Commonwealth Games since 2002 in Manchester, England.  Canada brought homes six medals  in boxing which is the second largest in Games history.
