Vishwa Hindi Divas Celebrated In Vancouver

VANCOUVER – The Consulate General of India, Vancouver has organized this colorful event with the support of other eight local organizations, on February 15 at Fraser View Banquet Hall in Vancouver.

Hindi is the national language of India and most popular language of the world. The facilities of learning and teaching are available globally in 150 countries. Smt. Abhilasha Joshi, Consulate General of India is taking special interest in promoting and sheltering the Hindi in Western Canada. The history of Hindi literature was described, in brief, by Acharya Dwivedi.

Shri Manjish Grover, Consul, in absence of Smt. Abhilasha Joshi, welcomed the guests. Hindi group song “Hindi Hai”, composed by Dwivedi and tuned by Shailendra Pathak,was presented by Kiran Tohan, Kalpana Sharma, Anupama Sharma, Shailendra Pathak and Dwivedi. Neeraja Aptikar, a celebrated classical singer, sang Hindi songs.

Students of Vivek Hindi School-Sanvi Gandhi, Mehar Bhamra, Pratyaksha Awasthi,andVeda Prabhu, under the banner of Hindi Literary Society, recited the poems. The students of Ganesh School of Hindu Temple Burnaby presented the group song-“Hum Hain Hindustani”that was prepared by Mrs. Anita Khare. Deepa Sharma, secretary of Global Hindu Foundation, gave bouquet to Shri Manjish Grover for the promotion of Hindi.

Poets Sudesh Kumar, Dr.Ajay Kumar Garg, Shailendra Pathak and Suchitra Joshi recited their poems and Sheetal Aditya Kulkarni (Indian Cultural Association) recited the poem of Bachchan. Ashok Bhargava’s collection of poems “Lahron Se Sangharsh”,translated in Hindi from his English poems, was launched. Ashok Bhargava is well known in literary circle for his work. Acharya Dwivedi gave brief review of the book; andAshok recited some of his poems. A group Hindi song composed by Dr. Swami Satya Prakash Sharma “Aao Hindi Padhe” was presented with musical instruments.

Trophies, medals and certificates were given to all participants by Consul Manjish Grover and he thanked all the guests and participants. Harish Masand and Vasundhara, the popular radio anchors, emceed the program effectively. All the guests, at the end, were profusely entertained with delicious dinner.
