13 killed As Violence Erupts In Pakistan


KARACHI – Violence rockedPakistan’s biggest city as 13people were killed in targetedshootings including five suspectedTaliban activists, a Shiascholar and two Moroccan studentsat a religious seminary.Police said the spate of targetedkillings increased late onTuesday evening when sevenpeople were shot dead in just anhour.In the latest incident atNazimabad, unidentified gunmenopened fire on a car killingfive people.A senior police official said oncondition of anonymity that thekilled included two people whohad links with militant outfitsand used to raise funds for themin the city.”One of them is MushtaqSamand who was well-knownfor raising funds for Jihadi outfitsand even contested therecent provincial assembly electionsas an independent candidate,”he said.Earlier, two foreign studentsfrom Morocco studying at areligious seminary were shotdead outside the Makki mosquein the same area as they cameout for a stroll while in anothertargeted killing in NorthNazimabad three people werekilled in an ambush.
