BC Prosecution Service (BCPS) has charged 24-year-old William Alexander Clippingdale with second-degree murder of Jason Richard Gill.
Gill, a 47-year-old resident of Surrey died after an altercation. The police said that Gill was stabbed during the fight. “Investigators believe that the parties were known to one another and that this was an isolated incident.” said Corporal Esther Tupper of IHIT, “IHIT would like to thank the Surrey RCMP, Vancouver Police Department (VPD) and the VPD Emergency Response Team for their support throughout the investigation.”
The incident occurred on July 23, 2024, at approximately 11:50 p.m. Surrey RCMP responded to a complaint of a fight in the 6600 block of King George Boulevard, Surrey. First responders, attended and located a man suffering from multiple stab wounds. Despite life-saving efforts from both officers and British Columbia Emergency Health Services (BC EHS), the man succumbed to his injuries on scene.
Witnesses reported seeing a suspect male, fleeing the scene. IHIT investigators identified the victim as Gill, from Surrey, and also released his name. IHIT said this incident was not believed to be linked to the BC Gang Conflict. The preliminary investigation suggested that the two individuals were engaged in an altercation resulting in the victim being fatally stabbed.
The suspect seen fleeing the area is described as a white male, 6 feet tall, who was clean shaven and had short, sandy colored blonde hair.
As this matter is now before the courts, no further information will be released.
