3 Rapists Sentenced To Life Imprisonment

BARNALA – The Additional Sessions Judge, Barnala, BS Sandhu, awarded life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000 each to three convicts under Section 376 of the IPC in three different rape cases.

Two cases were registered in April 2012 and one in June, 2012 at different police stations of Barnala.

In a case registered at the Tallewal police station, the court awarded life imprisonment to Charanjit Singh of Chananwal village. He was also awarded seven years’ imprisonment and a fine of Rs 5,000 under Section 366 of the IPC. The case was registered against Charanjit on April 10, 2012 under Sections 363, 366 and 376 of the IPC for sexually exploiting a minor girl of his village.

In the second case registered at the Barnala city police station, the court awarded life imprisonment to Naresh Kumar. Under Section 366-A of the IPC, the court awarded him another seven years’ imprisonment and a fine of Rs 5,000.

The case was registered against Naresh Kumar under Sections 366-A and 376 of the IPC on April 12, 2012. In this case, the rape victim was a student of Class IX of a school in Barnala who had gone to check her result on March 30, 2012, but did not return home. Later, her parents learned that Naresh had taken their daughter with him.
