80-Year-Old NRI From UK Found Dead In Hotel In Hoshiarpur

HOSHIARPUR – A 80-year-old non-resident Indian(NRI) was found dead in a hotel room near the bus stand here on Saturday. The deceased was identified as Harbhajan Singh who had come from the United Kingdom a fortnight ago and was staying in the hotel since May 20. The deceased was from Maana village.

According to the sources Harbhajan had died in the evening and police were informed.

The deceased’s brother-in-law Balwant Singh, a resident of Khanaura said Harbhajan had come to India to sell land and collect money pending from a deal.

The police said they recovered Rs 6,100 and 125 pounds from his room. However, Balwant said the amount could be more. Balwant said the body will be cremated after Harbhajan’s wife, Kulwant Kaur arrives from the UK.

Deputy superintendent of police Sukhwinder Singh said,” It appears the man died of a heart attack but the exact cause of death will be confirmed in the autopsy report.”
