International Women’s Day is celebrated all over the world to highlight the political, social, economic, cultural, and religious achievements of women.

Women have been facing terrible violence, exploitation and injustice in the hands of male-dominated society for thousand years. Only in early 20th centurythe movement to promote women’s rights was launched in form of Women’s Dayin New York 1909. From this initiative the movement of women’s equality in North America, Europe, Russia and China grew.The UNO adopted it in 1977 and declared March 8 as an International Women’s Day.

The Women Power has become dominating theme in literature and now-a -day poems, plays, stories, dramas and essays are written and circulated in Hindi and other languages. Hindi Literary Society organized virtually an International Women’s Day on 7th March 2021 with exciting and inspiring songs and poems focusing on women’s achievements. Fifteen artists participated including Sri Manjish Grover from Consulate Office of India.

NeemaManral, the secretary of Society, presided over the function. She was articulate and impressive in introducing the artists. She is an established Hindi poetess and she used her own poetic lines to add charm in the program. The following artists sang the songs-Kanti Dwivedi, Charu Arya, Saroj Kumar, Bina Jain, Shashi ji and young artists Angel and Ruby Manral. Madhu Varshney, Shikha Porwal, Suchitra Joshi, Acharya Dwivedi, Harish Masand, Narinder Singh, Rupinder Kherarecited their own composed poems. President Harish Masand thanked the participants.
