SURREY – A new alliance has come together to challenge the Surrey First’s dominance in the city at the upcoming election this fall. The Surrey Community Alliance (SCA)is a new formation of the former Surrey Civic Coalition (SCC), which was once a Major force in Surrey under the leadership of former Mayor Bob Bose.
“It’s time to challenge the Surrey First monopoly on politics,” says SCA President Doug Elkford. “People of Surrey are fed up of a City Council that does not listen to its citizens,” says Elkford. “We are a new community alliance that will work with the community organizations in Surrey to bring forward bring forward their issues in the next election,” says Elkford.
The SCA will hold a nomination meeting to field candidates this spring. “We hope to reinvigorate the communities in Surrey to work with us to bring forth important issues and polices that matter to them”, says Elford.
The SCC had changed its name to Surry Matters in 2014 but could not come together after the sudden death of long time SCC City councillor Gary Robinson.
