VANCOUVER: Adera Development Corporation (Adera) announced PURA, the first SmartWood mass timber community in Surrey Central’s West Village.

Comprised of two six-storey buildings, the urban community contains a total of 248 hybrid mass timber condominiums. The future mass timber community with condominiums ranging in size from 474 to 863 square feet will place homeowners at the centre of convenience in an up-and-coming active region of Surrey — yet tucked away in a more serene setting. Census data between 2016 to 2021 saw Surrey’s population increase by 9.7%, and Surrey Central is poised to become B.C.’s largest and fastest-growing city by 2030.

According to the developer, all homes at PURA are made using Adera’s proprietary SmartWood, an entirely new class of building material competitively as strong as concrete and steel, yet at a price point that falls between light wood frame and concrete.

It is engineered locally to be sustainable, capturing carbon rather than releasing it and simultaneously reducing emissions. SmartWood is safe; it doesn’t buckle like concrete or burn in the way that light wood frame does.

“At PURA, residents will be empowered to live connected to urban amenities in a bustling urban centre where all points of wellness are fulfilled,” shared Rocky Sethi, COO, Adera Development. “By working with RH Architects, we will be achieving intentional design for the community, the environment, and the optimal wellness of future homeowners. We are also designing to target Fitwel Certification, which is the world’s leading certification committed to building health and wellness.”

“A community with unparalleled livability at its core, PURA boasts incredible wellness-focused amenities, including an expansive rooftop area with a putting green, along with dining, reading, and fireside lounge areas; a co-working lounge, a party room, a fitness, yoga, and meditation zone, bicycle repair stations and bike wash, a dog wash, car wash, shared amenity courtyards, and a DIY workshop. Homeowners at PURA can also customize their private living spaces with Adera’s i.D. By Me personalization program with options like air tempering, roller blinds, closet organizers, and mobile kitchen islands, just to name a few,” Sethi said.

Previews are slated to start in August with sales starting in September, 2022. To register and learn more about PURA, visit https://www.livepura.ca
