OTTAWA – The Canadian government announced Friday that it has completed payment to the families of the victims of the bombing of Air India Flight 182.

“Almost thirty years after the bombing of Air India Flight 182, the loss of 331 innocent lives, including 280 Canadian citizens, is a painful chapter in our history. The families, friends and communities of the victims still feel the profound loss of this tragedy; a loss that has had to be relived throughout the lengthy investigation and prosecution process,” said NDP MP Paul Dewar

“We welcome the ex gratia payment to the families of the victims to acknowledge the inexcusable administrative difficulties these families faced after the terrorist attack. Today we honour the memory of the victims of the Air India tragedy and resolve to ensure that these acts of violence are never repeated.”
