PATIALA – Relatives of two Akali leaders joined the Aam Aadmi Party. One of them is a cousin of Food and Civil Supplies Minister Adesh Partap Singh Kairon, Raghuinder Singh Kairon alias Goldy Kairon.

He joined the party in the presence of party’s national organisation building head Durgesh Pathak and state convener Sucha Singh Chhotepur.

Goldy’s grandfather Jaswant Singh Kairon and Adesh Pratap Singh Kairon’s grandfather Pratap Singh Kairon were brothers.

A local businessman, Goldy had been campaigning for his cousin during previous elections and had affiliation with the SAD for long. He claimed the SAD had gone off track and the Badals had not only ditched the masses but Alkali leaders as well. He said AAP was working on a clear agenda of development and corruption-free society.

Another person to join AAP is Barinder Kumar, son-in-law of Makhan Singh Lalka, SAD halqa in charge of Nabha. He had been residing in Australia for the past six years. “I see a new hope in AAP and want that Punjab should progress at any cost. I thus decided to return to my homeland and raise voice against the system, which has made the life of the common man miserable,” he said.
