Shri Zile Singh wrote an informative article on anger in the last issue of Link. That gave me an idea of sharing my poem on anger that is in my collection. My poem is steering towards a spiritual goal.

Anger assails the mind,

Cheating it of rationality.

Do not become a slave to anger

That saps your energy,

Dulls your judgment,

And makes you impulsive.

Hate and violence are its brothers.

Caught in their traps

You lose self-control,

And you perform harmful deeds.

What can you then reap?

Repentance is no solution

To remove the errors of angry action.

Nip anger in its bud,

While it’s incubating as thought.

Replace it with divine thoughts,

And grow in spiritual stature.

What can be more rewarding

Than having purity of heart

That leads you to nobility?

Be wise! Watch anger’s pitfall!

Steer your life as you do your car.

Arrive at the blissful destination,

That is the goal of life.

Do not sell yourself short

When God’s spirit is in you.

You are meant to be homo-sapiens!

Live up to this transformative ideal!

Let peace be your precious possession,

And bid farewell to anger forever!
