MANILA – Surinder Singh, a 28-year-old Indian in the Philippines engaged in money-lending, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen. He was on his way to collect money from debtors in Kabacan in North Cotabato province, the Inquirer online reported today.

The police, quoting witnesses, said the gunmen used a .45 caliber pistol for the murder. They fled the crime scene on the victim’s motorcycle.

“Motorcycle theft could be the motive behind the killing. The assailants did not touch his personal belongings. His daily collections were intact,” Superintendent Jordaine Maribojo said.

Since January, four persons, including three Indians, have been targeted by motorcycle thieves.
