CHANDIGARH – Hailing the issuance of notices to Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on a PIL claiming the transport policy had been tweaked to favour the Badals, People’s Party of Punjab president Manpreet Badal today said the father-son duo would have to give an account of their “ill-gotten” wealth.

Manpreet, in a statement here, said the mere fact that the Punjab and Haryana High Court had issued notices to the CM and Deputy CM showed that the Badals prima facie had a “role” in manipulating the transport policy.

In a separate statement, Manpreet also condemned the SAD’s way of mourning for the 1984 riot victims by getting a film star to dance at the launch of the kabaddi cup. “I am all for promoting kabaddi, but the manner in which it is being done is wrong. The Akalis are behaving like ancient Roman emperors who would hold gladiatorial contests or fights between men and lions so as to distract the attention of the common man from the essential problems of food, safety and livelihood,” he added.
