LUCKNOw – The Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) on Monday accused UP chief minister and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president Mayawati and her brother Anand Kumar of corruption.
The BJP has been levelling allegations of corruption in various departments of the state government for a long time now. But on Monday, the party for the first time pointed its finger directly at Mayawati and her family.
BJP national general secretary Kirit Somaiya released a list of 26 companies at a press conference alleging that they were being run by Kumar. He also alleged that the money invested in the companies had been earned through corrupt means. Demanding a detail inquiry into the matter, he alleged that the said companies had shown a phenomenal growth in last four years.
BJP leader Uma Bharti said that she would send the list of companies to Congress president Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul Gandhi and ask the UPA government to order an inquiry into the “ill-gotten wealth” invested in the companies. “Rahul Gandhi has been attacking Mayawati for corruption in the state. If Rahul is really serious about corruption under Mayawati’s rule, he will take up the case with his government at the centre,” said Bharti.
