Book on life and legacy of eminent artist Sobha Singh released in Edmonton

SURREY: A book on the life of eminent artist Sobha Singh was released in Edmonton.

The book named “Sobha Singh Artist: Life & Legacy” is in English and was released by his grandson Dr Hirday Paul Singh at Gurdwara Millswoods (Gursikh Society of Edmonton) amidst well-attended Sangat.

President of Gurdwara Surinder Singh Hunjan performed the book release ceremony. He was joined by General Secretary Balbir Singh Chana, Sr Vice President Bhai Narinder Singh, Principal Ramgarhia Khalsa School Paramjit Singh Ubhi, and committee members Pawiter Singh Makhu,Gurdip Singh Jhaji,Nirmal Singh Bhuie and Giani Gurmit Singh.

Speaking on the occasion President Surinder Singh Hunjan said that eminent artist Sobha Singh was pride and glory of Sikh community.

With his devotional fine art of painting, he painted par excellent paintings of Guru Sahiban, Bhagats,Sikh martyrs(Shaheeds )etc.

Due to his extraordinary art and exceptional painting skills, he got wide recognition during his lifetime and afterward. He was awarded Padam Shri by Govt of India and a postal stamp was also released on him. Secretary General Balbir Singh Chana said that the works of Sobha Singh are spreading his glory across the world.

Many visitors get impressed by his beautiful painting of Guru Nanak Ji and other paintings at Govt Museum and Art Gallery at Chandigarh. A large number of tourists visit his art gallery at Andretta in Kangra Valley, Himachal Pradesh.

All committee members of Gurdwara Millswood congratulated writer Dr. Hirday Paul Singh for this maiden authentic biography of Sobha Singh. They also prayed for the good health of ailing well-known Sikh scholar Jaiteg Singh Anant.
