VICTORIA – Burnaby councillor, Sav Dhaliwal, was elected 2nd Vice President of the UBCM Executive this morning at the annual Convention of the UBCM which is being held in Victoria from September 24-28.
The Union of British Columbia Municipalities (UBCM) has served and represented the interests of local governments in BC since 1905. Over 800 delegates – including mayors, councillors and directors – representing local governments from throughout British Columbia are attending the Convention to debate policy and elect a new UBCM Executive.
Dhaliwal is the immediate past president of the BC NDP and the Lower Mainland Local Government Association. He currently also serves as a director of the Metro Vancouver Board and the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.
