HURRY! Enroll Into CME Programs Until Dec. 31

The BC Skills Connect for Immigrants Program delivered by Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters (CME) is a FREE program funded by the Provincial and Federal Government.

Space is limited and we are only accepting participants into the program until December 31st, 2015. This is a FREE program offering job search support, mentorship, in addition to funding to help newcomers and immigrants to take courses or get their credentials assessed in professions such as: Engineering, Skills Trades (i.e. Construction), Transportation (i.e. Trucking), IT, Business and Sales, and of course Manufacturing and Exporting related professions.

Many BC immigrants possess skills in occupations where there are shortages, but face numerous barriers to attaining work aligned with their pre-arrival skills, qualifications, and experience. Key barriers are a lack of Canadian work experience, insufficient language proficiency, non-recognition of qualifications and difficulty navigating an unfamiliar labour market. The Skills Connect for Immigrants Program helps immigrants overcome these barriers.

Who is Eligible? You may be eligible if you:

• Are a new Immigrant with Permanent Resident status in the last 5 years

• Have related foreign work experience in your profession

• Have intermediate to advanced level of English language proficiency

• Are under-employed or unemployed

• Are not receiving Employment Insurance (EI)

If you are eligible, we will:

• Provide financial support for skills upgrading;

• Provide skills, qualifications and experience assessment

• Personalized career planning & counselling

• Job mentoring and matching

Free English for the Workplace Classes at PICS

PICS’ new Project Based Language Training Program (PBLT) is now offering free English classes for the Labour Market. It helps immigrants overcome language barriers that hinder new immigrants’ path to employment. The priority for this project is to attach clients to Labour Market and help them actively seek employment or prepare them to enroll in a training course or move to an enhanced Labour market program. Students will learn and develop soft skills, job search, resume writing, interview skills, networking and much more. Bingo On The House

Dec. 27th 2015 from 2.00 pm to 3.30 pm.

Vedic Seniors Parivar Centre of Vedic Hindu Cultural Society Surrey invites South Asian Adults/ Senior members and non members also  to come and play Bingo for the sake of fun during holiday season of 2015 and may be make some new friends, on December 27th 2015( Sunday ) from 2.00 pm to 3.30 pm at Shanti Niketan hall  8321 – 140th street Surrey B.C. Please bring only two dollars with you to play 2 games, do not worry if you do not know how to play, members will explain you the game just for the sake of fun.
