WSO Inter-Community Dinner!

The World Sikh Organization, a non-profit human rights and advocacy organization, is having an inter-community dinner on June 10th, 5:30-8:30pm at Bollywood Banquet Hall (#201 – 8168, 128 St., Surrey). ASAPBC Hotdog For The Homeless!

ASAPBC is holding Hotdogs for the Homeless Event on Sunday May 27, 2018 at Oppenheimer Park in East Vancouver starting at 11:30 am. We are planning on serving approximately 800 hotdogs, snacks and drinks and distributing clean used surplus clothing and footwear to the less fortunate. Please confirm by email to [email protected] whether you will be able to attend and/or if you can bring surplus clothing or footwear to give to the homeless.

Seniors Appreciation Day at Muriel Arnason Library

Thursday, June 7,  11:30 am – 1:00 pm

Muriel Arnason Library and the Langley Senior Resources Society are celebrating their annual Seniors Appreciation Day. Please come and meet City and Township of Langley firefighters and learn about the MedWatch Health Care Emergency program.

Langley Seniors Resources Centre will set up a booth to provide information about services and resources available for seniors in this area.

All ages are welcome to attend this event and have a chat with seniors to learn something new from them as they have a long experience of life and so much to share.

Enjoy a light lunch, a display of new large print titles, and enter a book draw.

This is a free, drop-in program.

PICS’ New Child Care Centre In Cloverdale

Progressive Intercultural Community Services (PICS) Society is opening a Child Care Centre at 6050 – 176 Street within Cloverdale Rodeo Grounds premises on April11th, 2018.

After surveying the community of child care needs in Cloverdale, PICS decided to provide these services to families in need of child care.We encourage all families to register their children at the earliest convenience.  These children should be between the ages of 30 months to School age. Fees are very reasonable and may vary according to the children’s care schedule.

Need Help Doing Your Taxes? Get Them Done For You, For Free!

Tax time is coming, and it’s important that you do your taxes to keep getting the benefits and credits you’re eligible for. If you have a modest income and a simple tax situation, volunteers from the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP) can do your taxes for you, for free!

The CVITP has free tax preparation clinics all across Canada, run by organizations and volunteers in your community. Tax clinics are open from mid-February to the end of April, with some even open year-round. You can also find a tax clinic with the free MyCRA web app when you select “Help with my taxes”.

We can help you!

Tax help through the CVITP is available to anyone with a modest income and a simple tax situation. Last year, over 2,500 community organizations and more than 16,000 volunteers filed over 765,000 returns for Canadians.

Program volunteers do not file tax returns for those with complex tax situations, such as:

  • individuals filing returns for deceased persons
  • individuals filing for bankruptcy
  • self-employed individuals
  • individuals reporting capital gains or losses
  • individuals reporting employment expenses
  • individuals reporting business or rental income and expenses
