EMPLOYMENT: Project Coordinator Sought For South Asian Youth Mental Health Project: Apply Now!

South Asian Mental Health Alliance (SAMHAA) is a non-profit society founded in 2010. From 2019 to 2021, SAMHAA is running a special project called South Asian Youth Mental Health (SAYMH). The SAYMH project will provide training for South Asian youth aged 16 through 29, in mental health, cultural safety, mindfulness, public speaking, and community leadership.

This training will be delivered in a 2-3 day retreat format, with guest speakers from various local partner community agencies. Upon graduation from the training, ambassadors will be paired with a mentor and given a microgrant ($200 – 300) to organize their own local community mental health event. This training will take place in 4 to 5 phases or sessions, targeting different populations each time, namely youth, international students, young parents, women, and men.

Afro-Multicultural Talent Show Auditions

Afro-Multicultural Talent Show holds auditioning on May 25th to June 15th from 4pm to 7pm at 14625 108 Ave, Surrey, BC V3R 1V9 (Kabumbe shop). All Talents and Gifts are welcome to our Auditioning! We look forward collaborating with you all and the top 5 contestants will have a chance to perform on our big event which will take place on June 29th at Taj Conventional Centre and win an award. In addition, the top 5 contestant will also have a privilege to wear African clothes designed by Safari the Award Winner of the 2019 African Fashion. New Mental Health Initiative: Youth Volunteers Needed

On behalf of the South Asian Mental Health Alliance and Gurdwara Sahib Dasmesh Darbar, this is an open call for South Asian youth in Greater Vancouver, ages 14 to 21, interested in receiving Mental Health First-Aid Training, a professional certification developed by the Mental Health Commission of Canada. Our goal is to create a volunteer team of mental health Youth Ambassadors who will raise awareness around mental health, and will work together to de-stigmatize its discussion and treatment within the South Asian community. In addition to mental health first-aid training, our volunteer Youth Ambassadors will receive training in public speaking and presenting so that they may effectively educate others about mental health.
