Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama`at Canada mourns the loss of innocent lives in Quebec City
TORONTO – The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama`at Canada condemns the attack that took place at a mosque in Quebec City on Sunday. It has been reported that multiple Muslims worshippers were shot and killed inside the Islamic Cultural Centre in the Sainte-Foy neighbourhood of Quebec. The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama`at Canada is enhancing security measures in its dozens of mosques and prayer centres across the country, in an effort to ensure the community feels safe and secure.
Islam forbids all forms of terror and extremism. The founder of Islam, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), placed a strong emphasis on especially protecting places of worship. The Holy Qur’an specifically teaches that all places of worship are sacred and must always be protected.
“We are deeply saddened by the attack that took place in a mosque in Quebec City and we pray for the rapid recovery of the wounded,” says National President of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama`at Canada, Mr. Lal Khan Malik. “We are taking steps to ensure that all members of the community feel secure and safe.”
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama`at Canada prays for solace and fortitude for all those left bereaved or affected by this tragedy.
