Days after events on September 11th, 2001, Canada went to war with Afghanistan killing thousands of innocent Afghans who had nothing to do with attack on New York. It was this lynch mob type of mentality that put Muslims here under attack as retribution for the attack on New York City. In the US, many Muslims have been victimized under the Homeland Security Act.

VANCOUVER – “As we mark the tenth anniversary of September 11, 2001 we Canadian Muslims reflect upon this day as a black day for Muslims around the world, where all Muslims were blamed for what happened to the twin towers in New York City,” said a statement from a coalition of Muslim groups

“Many innocent lives were lost that day and many more innocent lives have been lost as well as many people have been victimized as a result of what happened that day then years ago. Muslims or those who have perceived to be Muslims have paid a heavy price as the world waged to War on Terror or Terrorists. But it is Muslims who have been terrorized as a result.”

Here in Canada many lost their jobs and livelihood while others were detained under the Security Certificates legislation which gives the Canadian governmental the right to detain people without any evidence. While many of the Muslims victimized have been reported in the media, others have been suffering event to this day without a lot of public awareness.

“As we mark this tenth anniversary of September 11, 2001, we Canadian Muslims demand of the Canadian government to acknowledge the uncontainable attack on Muslims around the world. We demand that the Canadian government abolish all legislation that limit our civil liberties including the Security Certificates and the no fly lists and the list of terrorist organizations that have been imposed. Further, that all Canadian be removed from any international terrorists lists as well.”
