SURREY – Current BCchampion Tanraj Sohalhas won the 2014 BCOpen ChessChampionship held inRichmond, BC, onFebruary 8-10.BC OpenChampionship is theannual prestigious BCchess tournament andthis was 50 year anniversaryof this event.Seventy-six players ofall ages participated inthis tournament andplayed 6 rounds over 3days on this BC FamilyDay weekend.Tanraj, a grade 12 studentfrom Surrey, wasthe first place winnerwho repeated as championfrom last year.Tanraj also won the2013 BC Closed ChessChampionship inOctober, 2013.
