Classical dancer Aishwarya Roshan, a first-year medical student at the University of British Columbia, and an Indian Classical dancer based in Vancouver, is  performing her Bharata Natyam solo show on July 7th at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts. The show is titled, Satya – the Sanskrit term for “truth”. Accordingly, the show will contain pieces that explore the meaning of reality and devotion beyond distinctions of time, space, and person. Rhythmic and intricate, yet graceful and deeply spiritual, the traditional art form of Bharata Natyam is one of the most cherished of the eight Indian classical dance styles.  Nurtured by the rich heritage of South Indian music and its associated poetry, Bharata Natyam is rooted in an appreciation for art. The evening will contain approximately five pieces, each exploring the meaning of reality and devotion through a contemporary lens.
