Committee Formed To Look Into ‘Questionable’ Land Deals


MOHALI – Following the state government’s orders, theMohali administration has initiated a probe into ‘questionable’land deals of certain senior political figures in Mohalidistrict. Mohali Deputy Commissioner Tejinder Pal SinghSidhu today constituted a committee to look into the matter.Headed by Sidhu, the committee would compriseMohali Additional Deputy Commissioner, District RevenueOfficer, SDMs concerned and other officials, includingtehsildars and patwaris in the area. The committee would gothrough all land records to check irregularities, if any, in theland deals in question.After Congress MLA Sukhpal Khaira and SAD leader NKSharma accused each other of undervaluing land two daysago, it came to light that commercial land was being registeredas agricultural land in order to pay minimum stampduty on registration of its sale deed.Mohali Deputy Commissioner confirmed the developmentand said he was to submit a detailed report of these landdeals to the state government. “All the records of the landin question have been summoned,” said the Tejinder Pal Sidhu.
