RICHMOND – Richmond Multicultural Community Services (RMCS) has been serving this community for more than twenty-five years and in this context, it conducts multiple workshops and seminars in the community. In addition to that, every year RMCS holds a fundraiser /dinner gala.
This year’s fundraiser/dinner gala was held on May 10 at Richmond’s Riverside Palace. Close to 300 prominent citizens from diverse backgrounds came to-gather for this year’s function. RMCS president Kanwarjit Sandhu and Executive Director Parm Grewal extended a very warm welcome to the attendees. Before introducing the mayor, both of them presented appreciation plaques to retiring Board members Jagjit Singh Sandhu and Seema Aaron and thanked them for their service to RMCS. Mayor Malcolm Brodie, along with Councilors Bill McNulty and Chak Au, brought greetings from the City of Richmond. Special guests Hugo Eppich and Helmut Eppich from Eppco shared their valuable thoughts with the audience. Culture Club Talent Show winner Kylie Sanderson followed them with some very inspiring comments.
Functions like these go along way in creating mutual understanding and awareness about our cultural diversity. RMCS, like many other organizations in this community, has been in the forefront in this regard. All of this helps in bringing people from diverse backgrounds to-gather and create a sense of community. This is what makes Richmond a very unique and desirable community to live in. It is something that we can all be proud of.
