Dr Sahu Kahn Found Guilty Of 9 Counts Of Misconduct

LABASA – The Independent Legal Services Commission today dismissed two of the 11 counts of Professional Misconduct and Unsatisfactory Professional Conduct laid against disbarred lawyer, Doctor Mohammed Shamsud-Dean Sahu Khan.

Independent Legal Services Commissioner John Connors today ruled that Doctor Sahu Khan is guilty of nine counts of Professional Misconduct and Unsatisfactory Professional Conduct.

This is in relation to a piece of land in Labasa which initially belonged to a Ram Baran. The matter has been taken to the commission by Baran’s son, Krishna Dutt.

Judge Connors dismissed counts 4 and 11 where it was alleged that Doctor Sahu Khan being a legal practitioner on the 7th of December in 2001 transferred the land without the consent of the trustee of the land and in the second count, it was alleged on April 1st, 2011 that Dr Sahu Khan allegedly tried to get the complainant to withdraw the case against him.

Judge Connors expects to hear submissions on mitigation on the 3rd of next month at 9.30am. Meanwhile, Dr. Sahu Khan is currently in Auckland and it is not known when he will return to Fiji.
