Hindu Right-Wingers Oppose Playboy Club In Goa

PANAJI – Joining the chorus against the setting up of Playboy club in Goa, BJP and Congress legislators and Hindu right wing groups on Wednesday also opposed the opening of a branch in Candolim.

“Playboy club will erode the culture and morality in Goa.” Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) state spokesperson Manoj Solanki said.

The HJS appealed to Goans to support the opposition to the opening of the club in a democratic way. After a lull, a fresh controversy broke out over the issue.

Solanki said that tourism minister Dilip Parulekar is eager to allow entry to the Playboy club in Goa with the sole intention of promoting tourism.

The opponents to the club have dismissed assurances that affidavits that no nudity or vulgarity or exploitation of women will take place will have to be sworn in by the promoters.

“The entry of Playboy club in Goa will be detrimental not only to the society but to the future generations as well,” Solanki said. It would be an inappropriate decision to promote clubs like the Playboy for attracting more tourists, he added.
