Honouring True Sikh Pioneer!


Newly elected MP from Mission-Matsqui- Fraser Canyon Jati Sidhu is already doing his civic duty by honouring a true Sikh political pioneer in Naranjan Singh Grewal. Sidhu joined another Valley pioneer Tok Herar and his son and LINK columnist Ken Herar in holding up ‘The World’ which was awarded to Naranjan Grewall on Oct 3rd at the 100 Year Journey South Asian Gala in Vancouver. Grewall, was recognized in the Pioneer Category as being the first South Asian elected to public office in Canada in 1950 and later as Mission City Mayor in 1954 and later nominated as a CCF candidate in 1956. Tok Herar, knew Grewall and worked on many of his campaigns.
