SUVA – A 20-year-old Indian National who pleaded guilty to the charge of giving false information to a public servant appeared before a Suva Magistrate.
Muskan Balaggan is represented by Suva lawyer Kini Maraiwai and the summary of facts was read in court.
The court heard that on the 13th of June this year, Balaggan went to the CID Headquarters in Toorak and alleged that she was sexually assaulted by a Rajendra Chaudhry.
In the summary of facts, it was revealed that Balaggan who is from Punjab, stayed with Chaudhry and his wife in Suva after she was bailed out from prison for a drug related offence which was called in the Lautoka court last month.
The court heard that in July, Balaggan handed a letter to the Police to withdraw the case and she chose not to comment further.
She was charged on the same day for giving false information. Magistrate Ratakele has remanded Balaggan as Maraiwai asked the court for more time.
He made submissions in court that his client is requesting to speak to her parents in India today by using his mobile phone and the call was to be made at the remand-block.
