LONDON – An Indo-British married couple has beenfound dead in their home inSouthall, a Punjabi-dominatedsuburb on the outskirts of westLondon, the police said today.Sanjeev Kumar (36), alsoknown as Satbir Singh, wasfound hanging while his wife,Poonam (35), lay dead at theirresidence on Western Road onFriday.According to Scotland Yard,post-mortem examinations haverevealed that Poonam had beenkilled by “compression of theneck”, while her husband diedof “suspension caused by hanging”.Kumar’s death was notseen as suspicious from the start,implying a suicidal act.“Officers were called at approximately3.10 pm on Fridayto an address in Priory Way,Western Road, Southall followingconcerns for the welfare ofresidents there,” a MetropolitanPolice spokesperson said.“Officers attended and discoveredthe bodies of a man anda woman, both aged in their 30s.They were pronounced dead atthe scene,” the spokespersonsaid.The couple’s next of kinhave been informed and thepolice have confirmed that theywere not looking for anyone elsein connection with the deaths.Officers from ScotlandYard’s Homicide and MajorCrime Commandare are investigatingthe woman’s death as amurder.According to local mediareports, Kumar may have strangledhis wife before taking hisown life. — PTICrime scene Satbir Singhwas found hanging at his SouthallresidenceHis wife lay dead in aroom Scotland Yard said shehad been killed by “compressionof the neck”
