SURAT – A Canadian national seniorcitizen couple was attacked by suspectedrobbers in Kathor village of Suratdistrict on Wednesday evening whilethey were watching television at theirresidence. Two unidentified miscreants,with covered faces, entered the residenceand attempted to strangulate thevictims. The NRI couple, Ramzan KhanPathan, 82 and his wife Salma, 75, werealone at their residence in Parekh Faliyaof Kathor village. The couple stays intheir family home since last two and halfmonth and were earlier visited Canadaon regularly. The residence is exactlyopposite a school. The couple waswatching TV at around 9pm when twounidentified miscreants entered theirresidence. The front door was openwhen the miscreants entered in thehouse. The miscreants have coveredtheir faces with handkerchief. One ofthe accused attempted to suffocatePathan by pitting a pillow on his face.Salma started shouting for help andalerted neighbours. To stop her fromshouting another miscreant strangulatedher from neck using hands. Before theycould harm the couple further theneighbours arrived listening to theshouts. The miscreants managedescaped from the spot. The couplelodged a compliant in Kamrej policestation and police are now investigatingthe case. The couple claimed in theircomplaint that the miscreants mighthave attacked them to carry out robbery.
