Indo-Canadian Trucker From Brampton Charged After Fatal Hit And Run

Sultan Singh Bhamber has been charged with failing to remain at the scene after dragging a 21-year-old man under his truck.

BRAMPTON – A 61-year-old Indo-Canadian man from Brampton man has been charged in connection with a deadly hit and run Wednesday morning involving a dump truck.

Peel Regional Police were called to Kennedy Rd., just north of Steeles Ave., around 6:30 a.m. They say that a 21-year old male pedestrian was crossing Kennedy Rd. when a southbound dump truck hit him and dragged him down the road.

Paramedics rushed the pedestrian to hospital with critical injuries. He later died. His name has not yet been released.

Police say the driver who struck the pedestrian failed to remain at the scene.

Sultan Singh Bhamber has been charged with one count of failing to remain at the scene of an accident, causing death. He is scheduled to appear in court in Brampton on Dec. 21.
