More than 4,500 visit 102 exhibitors
Surrey: Progressive Intercultural Community Services Society’s (PICS) signature annual event, 9th Mega Job Fair and Business Expo, became one of the largest job fairs in Metro Vancouver after recording a whopping 4,700 attendees and 102 exhibitors.
Held in the North Surrey Recreation Centre on Thursday August 4, 2016, the event witnessed long line-ups as job seekers waited their turn to go in. The exhibitors were kept busy all day accepting resumes, discussing their businesses and conducting on-the-spot interviews.
“I am extremely pleased that PICS was able to connect thousands of job seekers with quality employers. True to its mission, PICS is working hard to serve the community and the credit for this must be given to PICS Employment Programs who have worked tirelessly to organize this event,” said Charan Gill, CEO of PICS.
Talking about the event, Satbir Cheema, Director, PICS Employment Programs and Planning said, “Our team organized a mammoth event that brought together more than 100 businesses from every sector enabling thousands of job seekers to talk directly with HR personnel to preview different jobs and careers, and at the same time allowing businesses to showcase their products and services to develop new business opportunities.
“The feedback from exhibitors and attendees was very positive and we are extremely happy about it.”
Gold Sponsors for the PICS 9th Annual Mega Job Fair and Business Expo were Vancity Credit Union. “Thank you, Vancity, for sponsoring the event once again. Without your generous sponsorship, this event would not have been possible,” said Cheema.
Cheema also thanked the City of Surrey for partnering with PICS for the event and all the other sponsors who helped make the event a success.
