JALANDHAR – Khalra Mission Organisation has written to the Chief Justice of India as well as the Chief Justice Punjab and Haryana High Court demanding an inquiry into the disclosures made by former police “cat” Gurmeet Singh Pinky.

Talking to the media today, Dalbir Singh, patron of the organisation, said a special investigation team be set up by the Supreme Court to probe fake encounter cases during terrorism days in the state.

Dalbir Singh said similar claims were made by Surjit Singh, an ASI posted at Tarn Taran, who had approached the Punjab Human Rights Commission with claims that he had witnessed 83 fake encounters.

He also made a reference to activist Jaswant Singh Khalra who had highlighted 2,000 cases of unidentified bodies.

Pinky exposed the state sponsored killings of Sikhs in India during 1989 to 1992, saying he personally witnessed over 50 fake encounters by the police. There is an estimate of over 50,000 Sikhs killed during those years. US Sikh group is seeking an independent inquiry of UN Commission of Human Rights and has begun an online petition to get signatures.
