Mallika Kapur Wins Miss India-Canada 2012

TORONTO – Mallika Kapur of Hamilton, Ontario won the title of Miss India-Canada 2012 at the annual beauty contest held last weekend in Toronto.

The 16 delegates began the evening with a high-energy dance sequence that captivated the audience and kept them in their seats for the remainder of the evening.

Special guest veteran Bollywood actor Anupem Kher enthralled the crowd with his charisma, wit, and humour. The audience could not get enough of him.

The top 5 finalists were Ekta Rana of Brampton, ON; Kapur; Meena Asdhir of Misissauga, ON, Ruchi Kumar of Richmond Hill, ON, and Seema Singh of Woodbridge, ON.

The winner Kapur is a 21 year old that was born in Calcutta, India. She family now lives in Bangalore while she pursues a Bachelor of Health Sciences at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. She has a passion for performing arts and has been trained in Bharatnatyam for fourteen years and has also played lead roles in several theatrical productions. She is also an avid golfer and is a member of the McMaster University varsity golf team. A highly accomplished scholar with an interest in medicine, Mallika aspires to become a physician in the near future. She looks forward for using the MIC title as a platform to introduce herself to both the Indian and Canadian entertainment industries as well as raise awareness about management of diabetes in the South Asian community.
