NABUA – The body of a fully grown foetus was found along the footpath at Sukunaivalu Road in Nabua early Tuesday morning. The foetus, believed to have been in a garbage bag, was found by a man who was on his way home at around 8.30am.
Taniela Delaitamana said at first, he thought it was a piece of rubbish from the garbage bag lying beside the footpath but later realised that it was a human foetus.
“When I had left my house at 7.30am to go to our family home, residents here had not placed their garbage outside for collection and there was nothing beside the footpath,” Mr Delaitamana said.
“But it was upon my return that I found the baby lying beside the torn garbage bags beside the footpath that leads to the store,” he said.
“It was really hard for me to see the baby lying motionless along the roadside.”
Mr Delaitamana said he called the police immediately. The police forensic team later arrived at the scene to remove the foetus. Police spokeswoman Ana Naisoro said it was too early for police to release details on the early morning find.
